LeFlore County Museum

LeFlore County Museum

The LeFlore County Museum at Hotel Lowrey makes its home in downtown Poteau inside the historic Hotel Lowrey. Once a luxury hotel of the 1930’s, the building still boasts its unique design and décor as well as original pieces from the hotel. This once full service hotel provided a barbershop, a café, and numerous small shops in the building. A stylish two story lobby and café filled the first floor while on the second floor mezzanine a private dining room overlooked the lobby.

The hotel, restored in 2008, was then transformed into an elegant home for the history of LeFlore County including Heavener, Talihina, Spiro and other nearby communities.

Although still undergoing restoration, the museum holds historical artifacts, photographs and numerous other exhibits displaying the unique story of LeFlore County and its residents over the years.
